Master Angler Gallery

This is a gallery of Master Angler fish taken by the Fishing Fishing Team crew.  Master Angler fish are defined in the Michigan DNR fishing regulations.

This is a 32.25 lb King salmon caught by Tim Thiel.  This is the largest chinook taken on the Fishigan.  It was caught on Fishigan I.  It was caught in 199? in the Pere Marquette Lake at Ludington, MI.  It took a J-plug on a downrigger and the battle lasted about 20 minutes.
This started out to be one of the more boring days out trolling for Salmon. We were fishing out of Port Austin in July and had 0 bits for the first 2 hours. Then, this Walleye hit a Green Dolphin on a Fullcore off of the planer board. Adam King grabbed the rod and reeled it it. It went 9 lb. 3 oz. and 30 inches, qualifying it for a Master Angler, Catch and Release division. As soon as we let that walleye go, we ended up having over 20 Salmon & Trout bite after the slow start.
This is Mike Rymar with a 29 lb 10 oz King Salmon.  It was taken on Lake Michigan out of Ludington, MI in 2001.
And this is a 17.35 lb Brown Trout that Heather Rymar boated Saturday evening on Aug. 24, 2002. 
This is the first Master Angler Lake Trout taken aboard the Fishigan. MA requirement is 18 lbs, this fish tipped the scales at 20 lb 10 oz! It was taken by Tim Thiel on 5-7-03.

Late Season Sturgeon on the St. Clair River. 

Lisa Clark landed this 57" long monster. 

It was boated on the last day of the 2005 season. 

This fish was Released.

Gordie Hanks (pictured right) lands this 48" Master Angler Muskie. 

It was taken just north of the Grosse Point Yacht Club,

over 17 FOW, on a Crackle Frog 6" Loke.

Sara Rymar with her 55.5" Sturgeon.  This was taken on Sept. 25, 2006.  One of two MA fish she got that night.  This is believed to be the largest fish taken by a female angler in Michigan in 2006.
