June 2 & 3 - Joe LePage
Fished on board the Passin' Gas for the Muskie Opener. The team went 3 for 5 on Saturday with no fish meeting the 50" or 30 lbs requirements to take into weigh-in. Our fish were taken off the Clinton River and Anchor Bay. The largest went only about 34".
Sunday it rained all day, and we could only manage one bite which was a Pike.
Here were the top 3 registered fish:
1st J-Rod 33.9 lbs.
2nd Seldom Seen 31.85 lbs.
3rd Water Wolf 31.65 lbs.The boat ran great for it first fishing trip.
Crew - Captain Adam Heinrich, Adam Lozen, Chuck B., Jim D., Jeff Watson, and Mike Rymar
Fished the South shore on Saturday at the Red Barn. Fishing was tough for the first four or five hours. One 45" fish 10/10 down-rod. Started heading home around 5:00 PM and decided to fish mid-lake. Water color was perfect and the wind died down. Went 4-6 with a 43" fish. Too bad we didn't fish there all day! Hot setup 2/60 on the boards. Hot baits: Loke Black Perch, St. Lawrence and Bay Perch.Crew: Capt. Adam Heinrich, Jeff Watson, Chuck Baumgarten, Adam Lozen, and Gary Schroka
Fished mid-lake all weekend. Saturday we were 8-14 with our largest fish going 46". Lots of nice fish caught on this day including a 54 1/8" fish on the Teeko which would eventually take first place. The captain turned 30 on this trip so fishing was secondary to the partying unfortunately. The girls got to reel in some fish on this trip which made it fun. Sunday we were 1/1 with a 40" juvenile fish. Hot colors for the weekend were Olive Frog and 9$ Bass
Saturday we fished the Thames River area and went 4/4. Largest fish 46". Water was dead calm and it was unseasonably warm. Hot setup 1/30 on the board with the hot bait being the Nils WB Perch. Sunday we started at the Barn. We caught 4 small fish in the first hour with the first double on the "Passin Gas". The fish shut off so we trolled East. Approximately 15 minutes before the end of the tournament, the outrod started screaming. The fish jumped at the back of the boat and we knew it was a hog. We quickly got it to the boat and dropped her in the livewell. 49.5" and 32#, too short for the tournament but what a nice fish. 10 minutes later the board rod started screaming and we put anohter beauty in the boat 49" and 31#. Hot setup was 4/20 on the outrod and 1/30 on the boards. Hot baits were Nils Reverse Crackle and Brown Back Lawton. All in all we went 7/7 in 5 hours on Sunday. Can't wait for next season!
