Fished the Fall Big Dog Muskie Derby. Our best fell way short. Late Saturday the crew onboard Passin' Gas would land their best for the weekend, this 48"er. Then the team would make a late October trip onboard Offish. Conditions were tough, it was cold and the water was like cholate milk. 5 hours of trolling would produce one snagged 15 lb Catfish. Finally in the 6th hour and right at dark the crew would land two muskies, the largest being 52+". |

Wow, another 2 months without an update.
The team competed in the LSC Muskie Bash onboard Passin' Gas. They were able to pull one 50+" ski on Saturday and two 50+" ski's on Sunday. However the top 3 for the derby were set in the 54+" range. Despite setting a boat record for length, the team would fall short with their 53 1/8" fish. Also, congrats to Woodie for setting his PB.
The team would next travel to Toronto for the Tightline Shootout. Pre-fishing went from very good to decent leading up to the event. Then the east wind would come and shut the bite completely off on tournament day. This years field consisted of 60 boats, of which, 26 boats would not weigh a fish. The Offish/Fishigan team could only muster one adult king and 3 other shakers which would not make the 20" tournament limit. So they decided to forego the weigh-in and header back to Michigan. B would get the biggest fish of the trip which happen on the first day that tipped the scales at 29 lbs.

June 18 - Wow, two months since an update.... None of us got out to fish in May. Muskie opener on LSC was June 5th. It was a weekend to remember numbers-wise. Onboard Passin' Gas, Brian, Mike, and Captain Adam were able to boat 42 fish out of 47 strikes. 39 Muskies, 2 Walleye, and 1 Tiger Muskie. Mike with his first Tiger. Brian with the Largest of the Day, 50 1/2", ~27 lbs. We will be participating in a fundraiser event for Special Olympics of Michigan on Tuesday onboard Passin' Gas. As a group, we hope to raise over $10,000 for SOM. |

April 24 - Team Fishigan participated in the Salmon Stakes Press Day by taking out a group from the sponsor Best Buy on April 16 onboard Passin' Gas. Fishing was brutally tough with the gin clear waters and all the they were able to catch was a 13" Pink salmon. The Spring Fling tournament proceeded Press Day. The guys would struggle all weekend long with snow, low pressure system, cold front, and a very stiff 15-25 mph wind out of the northwest. They managed to land 3 weighable fish in the two days and take 11th place out of 26. |

March 12 - Port Huron Spring Fling as a flier online, you can view it here. It will be April 17th and 18th. Reports are trickling in that their have been a few coho and browns being caught by the guys dodging icebergs in the river. Last year the DNR increased their stocks in the St. Clair River and Lake Huron, so seeing the browns now a year later are great news. 1997 was the last large plant of Browns for St. Clair County, 80,000. Then the DNR reduced the plants to around 20,000 browns planted per year. 2009, it was increased to over 100,000 Browns. This is great news for our area. Ice on LSC is just about gone. Sat Image can be found here. Since we don't have any 201 images up yet, here is a shot of some perch we got earlier in the year on the ice. |
